Who Is Madam Orlaine? The Real History Behind Our 1920s Evening of Mystery
If you've clicked into this page wondering "who is Madam Orlaine," you're not alone. Almost nobody in her own time knew either, and that was entirely by design.
A Woman Who Vanished on Purpose
In the 1920s, a mysterious woman moved from town to town across the South, performing a single private, invitation-only event in each place before disappearing again. No repeat shows. No public tour. Just one evening, once, in a room lit by candlelight, and then she was gone.
She went to great lengths to keep it that way. Newspapers that tried to publish anything about her found their equipment and offices ransacked before the story ever ran. Only one publication ever succeeded, and only by waiting until she had already left town. The article carried the only name history remembers her by: Madam Orlaine's Evening of Games.
A Diary in New Orleans
We might never have known her name at all, if not for a young woman named Eviline Scott. Eviline attended one of Madam Orlaine's evenings in New Orleans, Louisiana, and wrote about it in a diary she kept. Decades later, a historian piecing together scattered personal writings, fragments from other guests in other towns, other single unrepeated nights, found Eviline's account to be the most complete record that survived.
Without her diary, and a handful of others like it, Madam Orlaine might have disappeared from history entirely.
Bringing Her Evening Back to Life
That's the story behind Madam Orlaine's Evening of Mystery, the show I built to recreate what Eviline described, close-up mentalism performed for a small, invitation-style group rather than a stage full of strangers.
It's a deliberate departure from my usual comedy-forward shows. Where my standard performances lean into big laughs, this one leans into quiet, close, and a little unsettling, with the humor still there, just turned down to let the mystery breathe.
What to Expect
Close-up mentalism and magic, performed inches away, not from a stage
Intimate gatherings of 10 to 25 guests
Invitation-style booking, ideal for milestone private events, anniversaries, and small exclusive gatherings
No two evenings unfold quite the same way
If you're planning a private event in Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, or anywhere across DFW and want something your guests will genuinely remember instead of just enjoy, this is built for exactly that kind of night.
